Spending two and a half years travelling through Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe, Jackie Nickerson photographed in the small towns and on the corporate plantations, creating empowering portraits of workers in their workplace. This documented view of Africa looks outside the language of photojournalism that defines people in the developing world by their poverty and focuses on their aesthetic around clothing and their ability to freely mix patterns, textures and styles.
Nickerson also photographed the A/W 15/16 Marni ad campaign.
