Dirty Furniture Magazine Issue 1

Independent biannual design magazine, Dirty Furniture uncovers the relationship between people and the objects they live with, examining what happens to an item after it leaves the showroom. Dirty Furniture will run as a finite series of six, each issue looking at a different piece of furniture; Sofa, Table, Toilet, Closet, Telephone and Bed. The furniture will be a platform to explore topics ranging from politics, history, technology, manufacturing, to the plain weird.

Issue 1 is examines the cultural influence of the couch – from TV sensation Gogglebox to interviews with a couch-surfer, an upholster, and an antique dealer. American artist, Bryan Christiansen dismembers abandoned sofas and discovers the objects lurking under the cushions.
