Fashion illustration, stickers and stationary in general are all having a moment, with creatives using Instagram to feature their work.
Canadian-born New Yorker Donald Robertson is a creative director at Estée Lauder and illustrator, who has 146,000 followers on Instagram and in the last two years has worked on collaborations with J.Crew, Bergdorf Goodman, Alice + Olivia, Colette, Smashbox Cosmetics and Brian Atwood.
His work is currently featured at Manhattan concept store Story, where he has customised iPhone cases fromiZZi Gadgets, Mi Cielo kids shirts, Chasing Paper wallpaper, In The Seam ‘couch art,’ Urbanears, Sugarfina sweets and lots more.
Robertson’s first book, “Mitford at the Fashion Zoo”- featuring a gangly giraffe turned fashion industry darling is on sale – and there will lots of events, such as workshops with Bow and Drape, where customers can create a customise a t-shirt using Donald’s limited-edition emoji patches and buttons.
USP: Stationary, illustration and stickers are enjoying a resurgence, particularly with Generation D, whose desire for analogue experiences are inspired by social media.
