Continuing with our look at the most inspirational and inventive advertising campaigns released for A/W 15 from the major fashion brands.
Perhaps one of the most surprising stars of the new campaigns is Donatella Versace as one of the faces of Givenchy. Breaking rules by working with a rival house, Donatella has stated she wants to ‘work together, support each other and make fashion a true global community.’
The brand have also unveiled an accompanying film directed by Mert & Marcus, featuring models including Candice Swanepoel and Jamie Bochert playing basketball, riding bikes and skipping while dressed in full Givenchy glamour.
Burberry have gone in a new direction for their campaign shot by Mario Testino. A street location and bold lighting have resulted in a more fun, spontaneous look.
Burberry have also launched a campaign film to work alongside the images, featuring the same talented young cast from the worlds of fashion, film and music, including Amber Anderson, Clara Paget and Tom Odell.
In contrast, images for the Balenciaga campaign photographed by Steven Klein and starring Kate Moss and Lara Stone, are carefully posed and highly stylised. Both models have sleek, almost harsh hair and beauty, and are interacting with each other against a grey backdrop.
Stella McCartney‘s images featuring model Natalia Vodianova were photographed in Scotland by Harley Weir. The natural, surreal quality of the landscape and composition showcases the effortless simplicity of the clothing.
Both Bruce Weber and Juergen Teller have worked on the new Louis Vuitton campaign, shot on locations in Barcelona and Miami. The images star Jennifer Connelly, Freja Beha Erichsen and Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, the brand’s newest muse.
USP: Launching a successful advertising campaign is crucial for brands, with the right ‘face’ and choice of aesthetic ensuring a wide reaching appeal.
