Bjork has never been a follower of fashion – from the iconic swan dress worn at the 2001 Oscars, to the latest futuristic fashion worn on the artwork for her new album Vulnicura – her style is totally original, playful and exploratory.
Bjork’s clothes work harmoniously with her music to create an immersive artistic experience. She has had many strong relationships with designers – most notably McQueen – but works collaboratively with them rather than simply wearing the clothes.
Bjork’s ninth studio album Vulnicura was released on iTunes on 20 January, two months ahead of the scheduled date following an internet leak. The artist worked with Venezuelan producer Arca, who has worked with Kanye West and FKA Twigs.
The Museum of Modern Art will be presenting a Bjork retrospective from 8 March to 7 June 2015.
USP: Bjork’s style is fearless, using fashion as a method of artistic expression which works conceptually with her music, always with a touch of wit.
